Timothy Tambe was born in Cameroon and arrived in the United States in 2005 to study and to make a better life for his sister and himself. Timothy currently resides in the Bronx, works in Queens and often visits all of the other boroughs.

Tim has received an enormous amount of training in a variety of areas; debate, Robert’s Rules of Order (Parliamentary Procedure), Governance, Ethics, Voice and Diction, Leadership Skills, Navigating the Seven C’s of Deep-End Leadership and even (Developing a Three Dimensional Self Appraisal of oneself through) Mask Making. Tim has been able to utilize his newfound skills and talents by speaking on behalf of the college and CUNY in Albany and at City Hall. He is a great representative for Hostos Community College and has made political contacts with a wide variety of individuals who represent various sectors of the population.

Timothy TambeTimothy is a member of the Hostos Leadership Academy’s Student Ambassador Program and over the course of his tenor as a Student Ambassador he has represented the college and CUNY in a variety of venues. Last spring Tim met with New York State politicians at the Black and Puerto Rican Caucus in Albany, New York to discuss issues facing aspiring leaders in the world today. Among the individuals Tim met with were the former Governor of New York, Reverend Herbert Daughtry and even Rap music Performer and Hip Hop Legend Slick Rick.

Tim also had the rare opportunity to represent all of CUNY at a protest to try to stop tuition increases at City Hall, where he met not only with the Chancellery of the City University of New York, but he also spoke directly to local representatives (including to Councilman Charles Barron, Chair of the Higher Education Committee) about the concerns of students studying and trying to get an education in the City of New York.

Tim is passionate about serving his local community and has participated in more than 55 hours of community service outreach activities over the past year. Among the activities that Tim has been a part of are serving food to over 1000 people at the Part of the Solution Soup Kitchen in the Bronx, Meeting and spending time with retired residents of the Isabella Nursing Home and also providing tours of Hostos Community College to a contingent of World Educators as well as graduating high school students.
