Dental Hygiene Awards
1-Stevenson Award - The New York State Dental Association presents the award to the student with the highest GPA –in dental hygiene courses.
2-President's Award - The Dental Hygiene Association of the State of New York (DHASNY) presents the award to the student who has actively participated in professional activities and has demonstrated a commitment to the future of the dental hygiene profession.
3-Clinical Proficiency Award - The Dental Hygienists Association of the City of New York (DHACNY) presents the award to the student exhibiting a high sense of professionalism as well as superior clinical skills.
4-Golden Scaler Award - Hu-Freidy, instrument manufacturer presents the award to the student with outstanding qualities in rendering patient care.
5-Excellence in Dental Hygiene Award - Johnson and Johnson presents the award to the student who has demonstrated high scholastic ability as well as outstanding professional manner when dealing with patients and fellow classmates.
6-Patterson Award - Patterson Dental Supply presents the award to a student for overall outstanding proficiency, commitment to the future of dental hygiene and shown leadership potential in the dental hygiene profession.
7-S.T.A.R. Award - Colgate Oral Pharmaceuticals presents the award to the student who has demonstrated dedication and enjoyment of the dental hygiene profession, exhibited compassion in patient care and showed enthusiasm for community service.
8-Cosmetic Dentistry Award -The Empire State Academy Cosmetic Dentistry presents the ward to the student who has demonstrated great interest in the area of cosmetic dentistry and incorporating its value thru Patient Education.
9- Professor Anita Cunningham Award - is presented to the dental hygiene student who has completed the highest number of patients while demonstrating professionalism, integrity and patient compassion.
10a- Dr. Esperanza Rodriguez “Hope” Award
The criteria for this award are:
demonstrate a strong academic profile (highest GPA)
demonstrate professionalism and integrity while a student in the program
be of Dominican descent

Hostos Honor Convocation
Gold Medal- is awarded to the student who has shown overall outstanding clinical proficiency and has demonstrated a commitment to the future of the dental hygiene profession.
Silver Medal- is awarded to the student for outstanding clinical performance.
Bronze Medal- is awarded to the student for demonstrating leadership potential in the dental hygiene profession.
