The internationally acclaimed Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company launches its 36th anniversary season at Hostos Center in celebration of Asian American Pacific Islanders Heritage Month. This special program will showcase the company’s acclaimed works and exciting new commissions by innovative choreographers influenced by ancient and contemporary Asian traditions.

The highlights include the 2022 commissioned work Betwixt and Between, a collaborative piece by Jacek Luminski and Peiju Chien-Pott exploring the concept of living between two cultures. Also featured is the 2024 world premiere of Reincarnation by choreographer Aloe Ao Liu, based on her observations of the rituals of the Dragon People in the mountains of Yunnan Province, China. Additionally, the program will feature the revival of Nai-Ni Chen’s beloved work, Carousel Divertimento, a playful and energetic work for seven dancers that explores the flow of energy and dynamics of the brushstrokes found in traditional Chinese painting.

For all ages and backgrounds.
