Participants in the 100 Lawyers Strong organization

Hostos students and alumni were treated to professional attire thanks to the 100 Lawyers Strong organization and the work of the Hostos Career Services Office and Green Tree Textiles.

Organized by Hostos Employment Coordinator Idelsa Méndez, the event, “100 Lawyers Strong - Suited for Success,” was held on April 15 at the Hotel Indigo Rooftop Bar in Manhattan.

The donations were brought to the Career Services Office Suited for Success Resource Room, where students and recent graduates in need of professional clothing for interviews, job fairs and other events come for support and to look their best.

Green Tree Textiles, who has donated business attire to past and present Hostos students and alumni through Career Services, also contributed clothing to this effort.

“On behalf of student jobseekers at Hostos Community College, I want to express my appreciation to 100 Lawyers Strong for putting this amazing event together. I would also like to thank Green Tree Textiles for its continued support to the Career Services Office,” Méndez said. “Contributions like yours make a difference in our students’ lives and assist them with becoming more marketable in today’s competitive workplace. Your generosity is sincerely appreciated.”

“100 Lawyers Strong would like to thank everyone who made this such a great success,” said Jack Vilella, Esq., the organization’s founding member. “The charities reported that 100 pounds of clothing were diverted from landfills and a dozen suits were donated to the students of Hostos Community College to help them in their future endeavors, and we could not be more thrilled.”

The event also included some other great services for both men and women, including free suit fittings and discounts on custom clothing courtesy of Alabaster & Chess and mini-makeovers and special products from Trish McEvoy Cosmetics.
