Assistant Professor Sol Miranda

Eugenio María de Hostos Community College is pleased to announce that Humanities/Visual and Performing Arts Adjunct Assistant Professor Sol Miranda will join the cast of the new NBC Tina Fey and Robert Carlock’s untitled sitcom that will premier this fall.

The story follows Kimmy Schmidt, played by Ellie Kemper (Bridesmaids, The Office), who leaves a doomsday cult to start over a new life in New York City.

Professor Miranda booked a guest recurring role playing Donna María, a Spanish speaking no-nonsense character.

A native of Puerto Rico, Sol Miranda holds a BA in Drama from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras and a MFA in Acting from the University of California, San Diego.  She has taught at Hostos since 1995 and revived the Hostos Repertory Company in 2004. Professor Miranda has been acting for over 25 years and has performed at international, regional and Off-Broadway theaters, in films and episodic TV. She consistently works in the Spanish voice over industry.

Last year, Miranda was seen in Colin Firth and Emily Blunt's film Arthur Newman and Dan Poliner's independent film Jack, Jules, Esther & Me (NYC Office of the Mayor Selection).

She is also an arts and education activist in her community of Peekskill, New York.  Three years ago, she co-founded a nonprofit community based arts organization called EMBARK|Peekskill, Performing and Literary Arts to provide a home and venue for performers and writers in the area.

Sol Miranda is repped by Gotham Talent Agency's Cynthia Katz.
