On September 3, Chancellor Milliken and other important guests hosted a celebratory reception at the College in honor of President David Gómez.

Joining President Gómez and Chancellor Milliken were Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr., who pledged his ongoing support of the College; CUNY Vice Chancellors and Presidents, including former Hostos President Félix V. Matos Rodríguez, and many other members of Hostos’ extended family of faculty, staff, alumni, supporters, and friends.

Chancellor Milliken lauded Gómez’s years of service to CUNY, at both Hostos in the 1970 and 1980s, and as a longtime senior administrator at Kingsborough Community College.

Gómez thanked all in attendance and said he was thrilled to return to Hostos to help continue forwarding the College’s crucial work in the classroom and in the community.

“It is important that we always remember why we are all here. This institution plays an important role in the lives of so many people who are committed to making a better life for themselves and their families. Hostos has been providing quality higher education opportunities, and other vital services, for nearly 50 years, and it is our responsibility to keep this mission close to our hearts.”
