22 members of the Hostos Student Leadership Academy

To honor Martin Luther King Jr. Day, 22 members of the Hostos Student Leadership Academy (SLA) volunteered at B'nai Jeshurun Temple to pack toiletry kits for people facing housing challenges. Working with Student Leadership Coordinator Jason Libfeld, the group assembled 300 packages. Some students even brought their children to experience the power of giving back.

The day of volunteerism hit at the heart of Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy of public service and was part of the B'nai Jeshurun and NYC Muslim-Jewish Solidarity Committee series of hands-on activities that highlighted the challenges that New York City’s most vulnerable communities.

SLA volunteers included: John Carlos Rodríguez, Amanda Arhin, Bishu Tamang, Myrlene Lundi, Debra Trammell, Stephanie Caban, Caesarina Le Blanc, Nyasia Hopes, Roneil Boodie, Naomi Holmes, Renee Etoty, Bermann Pierre, Martine Avonlong, Isaias Munoz Ruíz, Diana Taveras, Franciana Cisneros, Haide Manila, Sakiyna Switzer, Abdoul Balde, Thalia López, Rokia Diabi, and Stephanie Zvi.
