Hostos Community College is proud to announce that three students were awarded the Guttman Transfer Scholarship for Spring 2016. The students were: Dionel Del Orbe (Civil Engineering), Ashly Dominguez (Liberal Arts and Science), and Wendy Fernandez (Electrical Engineering).

This year, all three students belonged to CUNY’s Accelerated Study in Associate Programs (ASAP) program that helps motivated community college students earn their degrees as quickly as possible, with a goal of graduating at least 50% of students within three years.

The Guttman Transfer Scholarship benefits outstanding CUNY community college students, who transfer to an eligible CUNY senior college (Brooklyn, City, Hunter, Lehman, and Queens). Guttman Scholars receive up to $4,000 (paid over two years). CUNY is able to offer these scholarships through an endowment provided by the Stella and Charles Guttman Foundation.

The scholarships have helped many other deserving students, including ASAP students.  Recent years have seen six awardees in Fall 2015 (including two ASAP students) and eight students in Fall 2014 (including two ASAP) students.
