Audio/ Visual Service Requests
Request for Audio /Visual Services will be accepted Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 8:45pm.
Reservations for Televisions and Video Cassette Recorders (VCRs) only may be placed by telephone (x4225) 24 hours in advance, and availability permits.
Reservations for all other equipment must be secured by written memo in at least 14 days in advance, to the attention of CLT Julio Figueroa. Audio Visual Coordinator. Room A309C.
*NOTE: To allow equal use of the equipment, requests made in any other manner will not be honored, also, requests by school Faculty must be accompanied by a memo.
The Library Preview Center (A309A) is available for group screenings of film and video cassettes for teaching and learning purposes, as well as for cultural presentations. The seating capacity is forty-five (45) persons.
- Current valid Hostos/ Cuny ID card must be presented. Faculty member must be listed in the colleges official directory.
- Advance reservations are strongly recommended. Reserve the room in writing or by calling at least seven (7) days in advance. Reservations are made on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Place emergency requests twenty- four (24) hours in advance, subject to availability.
- Wait for A-V Staff to confirm your order and discuss arrangements about the presentation.
- Be prepared to provide security and protection of the equipment during the presentation.
- Performances must be given by means of a lawfully made copy. Personal duplicates or those taped by individuals from television will not be accepted.
- Any request involving audiovisual personnel in the duplication of video cassette programs having copyright protections is strictly prohibited, unless the interested party obtains and presents permission in writing from the copyright owners.
- If a group is more than fifteen (15) minutes late, they forfeit their reservation.
- No food or drink is allowed in the preview center.
- Faculty must remain on site and take responsibility for supervising their group during screening.
- Groups are responsible for straightening up the room after their presentation.
- Allow A-V staff to inspect and pick up the equipment once the event is concluded.
Audio - Visual equipment is available to Hostos faculty for instruction purposes on a first-come, first served basis and must be reserved in advance. Student organizations and community groups must have a faculty or staff representative who will act as a sponsor in order to take responsibility for the loan. Last- minute requests cannot always be honored. Ordinarily, audio-visual is not available for long term loans. For each request:

Classroom Viewing of Videocassette Programs
The library's Audiovisual Unit will accommodate any request for classroom viewing of videocassette program, provided that all of the following conditions are met:

Valid ID Hostos/ Cuny ID.

Requests for service is made at least seven (7) days in advance. bookings are made on a first-come, first served basis.

Place emergency requests twenty- four (24) hours in advance, subject to availability.

Performance must be arranged by an instructor or club advisor of a currently active student organization.

Guidelines for off-air recording of broadcast
programming for educational purposes

Off-air recordings may be made at the request of and used by individual instructors in classrooms devoted to instruction in the course of relevant teaching activities.

Off-air recording requests must be made by completing the form "Off-air recording request". The completed form must be submitted to the A/V specialist at least two full working days in advance.

The A-V specialist will develop controls for this activity including:

logging in all of such recordings in a journal.

placement of labels on the tapes with the following information- dates of recording and erasure.
