  • Hostos Men’s & Women’s Basketball Teams Recognized By Region XV

    While the Hostos men’s basketball team was able to overcome a tough Kingsborough Wave defense Friday afternoon to capture its first Region XV Tournament win in close to a decade, the team fell short in the semifinal game against the rival Sullivan Generals on Saturday. But despite falling short of a Region XV championship, the Caimans had a very successful 2013-14 campaign, including having several players on both the men’s and women’s teams named to the Region XV All-Star Teams.
  • Hostos Alumni And Students Ambassadors Team Up To Help Hurricane Sandy Victims In The Rockaways

    More than a year after Hurricane Sandy, over 200 families have not been able to return to their homes on the Rockaway Peninsula. To lend a helping hand, personnel of the Alumni Relations Office at Eugenio María de Hostos Community College of CUNY, the College’s Student Ambassadors, and members of the Leadership Academy joined forces with Friends of Rockaway on February 22 to help the O’Connor family rebuild their home, which had been devastated by the hurricane in October of 2012.
  • Hostos Professor Dr. Ernest Ialongo Moderates Futurism Roundtable At Columbia University

    On February 26th, a crowd of  over a hundred assembled at Columbia University’s Italian Academy for Advanced Studies in America for  a roundtable discussion entitled “Futurism at the Guggenheim.” This event was organized and moderated by Dr. Ernest Ialongo, an assistant professor in the Behavioral and Social Sciences Department at Eugenio María de Hostos Community College of CUNY. Ialongo is Hostos’ resident expert on Italian history.


  • Paintings By Hostos Professor Ian Charles Scott To Be Exhibited In Bronx Museum

    Two paintings by Ian Charles Scott will be on display in the Bronx Museum from March 5 to March 9. Scott is a professor in the visual arts program at Eugenio María de Hostos Community College of CUNY, and these works were selected by a curator for a special exhibition in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the New York Armory Show.
  • Mama’s Hip Hop Kitchen “Volume 7: Celebrating Sisterhood” At Hostos Center

    In celebration of Women’s History Month, the Hostos Center for the Arts & Culture  (HCAC) presents Momma’s Hip Hop Kitchen (MHHK) for its seventh annual event on Saturday, March 1, at 2 p.m.  in the Main Theater.  Entitled “Volume 7: Celebrating Sisterhood,” this free Hip-Hop concert honors women in the arts through lyrics, song and dance.  The event features performances from a variety of artists including: DJ Quiana Parks, Lah Tere,  Caridad de la Luz “La Bruja”, Full Circle Soul Sistahs, Likwuid, Narubi Selah, NeNe Ali, Colored Girls Hustle, Pelham Academy Eagles, Not Enough Mics Collective, LC the Poet, D. Scott, Audible Chocolate, MC Beats, and Laurie Markiewicz.
