Proyecto Access is a national 19 year-old pre-engineering
program. Now operating in nine cities, the program recruits high achieving middle and high
school students and enrolls them in a rigorous summer curriculum of pre-engineering,
problem solving, logic, computer science, algebraic structures, physics and internet
technologies.
The program is designed to identify social and economically disadvantaged middle school
students with the potential to become scientists and engineers and provide them with
academic enrichment and reinforcement in the pursuit of these fields.
The Proyecto Access New York PREP site is located at Hostos Community College in the
Bronx. Currently 110 students are enrolled at New York PREP. This year's program will run
from July 1 to August 21. The students who graduate this year from PREP I will be invited
back for a second or third year (PREP II or PREP III)
