Dear Alumni,
I am pleased to announce the formation of the Alumni Relations Office at
Eugenio María de Hostos Community College of The City University of New
York. Among our alumni are thousands of men and women who are making
important contributions to society in the areas of health services,
business, communications, education, and many other fields. By providing
activities that appeal to a wide variety of interests, the Hostos Alumni
Relations Office will help us to establish and maintain closer ties with our
graduates by involving them in the life of the college.
The Alumni Relations Office offers our former students a number of valuable
post-graduation benefits. For example, we provide alumni with career
development assistance and allow them to take advantage of employment
placement and other support services. In addition, the Hostos Alumni card
gives graduates access to the computing center, library, and recreational
facilities, as well as discounts on cultural activities presented by the
Hostos Center for the Arts and Culture and courses offered though the Adult
and Continuing Education Department.
Nydia R. Edgecombe, formerly the Director of Admissions and Recruitment for
the college, has been appointed as the Director of Alumni Relations. Ms.
Edgecombe’s office is Room A-337 in the Allied Health Sciences Building, 475
Grand Concourse; she can be reached by telephone at (718) 518-4180 or by
email at nedgecombe@hostos.cuny.edu.
As Hostos is a very important part of your past, there should also be a
place of importance for it in your present and your future. We want you to
share your successes with our current students, who look to our alumni as
sources of encouragement and symbols of hope. Because you are truly a member
of the Hostos family, I look forward with great expectation to your active
involvement in the advancement of your alma mater.
Cordially yours,
Dolores M. Fernandez, Ph.D
