Eligibility and Requirements

Students must satisfy the following requirement prior to enrollment:

  • Be admitted to a CUNY college.
  • Have non-passing scores in Writing (CATW) or Math placement tests.
  • Attend an information session (during which you will learn more about the program). 
  • Attend a personal interview.

During your personal interview, you will have an opportunity to meet with a CUNY Start staff member.

The CUNY Start program is not for students seeking to learn English as a second language.  Please visit the CLIP program website on the right side of the screen.

Please note that CUNY Start cannot provide student visas/I-20. Please visit the International Students SEVIS I-20 Process website for more information.
