REGISTRATION STEPS:

1. Eligibility Status:
 

1. Freshmen: Only students who are admitted in college are eligible for CLIP. Potential students must bring a letter of acceptance from their CUNY college, an identification card, and a Public Assistance Recipient Card if applicable. They must bring any CUNY Placement scores they may have received. Students who are SEEK or College Discovery must also bring proof of status.
   Students on a Tourist or F-1 Visas are not eligible for CLIP.
   
    

2. Students who have failed one semester of ESL in a CUNY college:
   Students must be referred by a faculty member or an academic advisor to be accepted in CLIP. Students who are not from Hostos must bring a referral letter and/or a document showing their latest transcript and academic performance.
   
    

3. Students from senior colleges:
   We accept students who have been dismissed from a senior CUNY college or freshmen who have been admitted in college but have not yet met the college's entrance criteria (low ACT scores).
    

2. Registration Process:
 

1. Students must fill out an application and questionnaire, at the CLIP Office.
    

2. They must bursar and bring a receipt showing payment as follows:

   • $180 for Spring and Fall or $75 for Summer, for students who meet one year New York State residency requirements;

   • $45 for Spring and Fall or $18 for Summer, for students who are on public assistance;

   • $450 for Spring and Fall or $180 for Summer, for students with less than one year residency in New York State;

   • $45 for Spring and Fall or $18 for Summer, for SEEK or College Discovery students

   • Books and materials are provided with no cost to the student.

3. They must attend an orientation session, as advised by the CLIP Office.
    

4. They must take CLIP Placement tests to be placed properly at the appropriate level.
    

5. Students are then issued a Photo ID
    

6. Students are assigned a level, class and instructor. This information is posted at the CLIP Office, Room C553, by the first day of class.
