Introduction to Home Energy Assessments and Savings
This 40-hour course will introduce students to cost-effective strategies in an effort to lower their utility bills and improve the comfort in a residence. They will learn how to inspect for ineffective heating and cooling systems, air leaks, missing insulation and also learn about energy efficient products that will help your efforts to save costs. Students will be able to witness how to examine a home using advanced technology. Student will be introduced to equipment professionals use and discover how to successfully perform an inspection of a house. Topics addressed in this course will be a diagnostic of air leakage, door and window weather-strips, health risks due to moisture buildup, and safety strategies. Through hands-on experience, students will be taught solutions to fix common problem areas of a home and acquire the knowledge to make their homes an energy efficient environment. This course is designed for those who are interested in partaking in the green revolution through energy management. Class sessions are: 8/30, 9/1, 9/6, 9/8, 9/13, 9/15 (Tuesday and Thursday), 9/18, 9/25 (Sunday).
