Basics of Desktop Computers and Computer Servicing
This 40-hour course will guide students through the components, software, operating systems, and applications of desktop computers. Students will be provided with computer stations where they receive hands-on training from a certified technician. At each station, students will have the chance to examine the inside of a computer tower and learn various the parts, functionality, and ways to replace them. Students will also receive extensive training in basic computer fundamentals including basic computer features, setup preferences, and program features. Popular and useful software programs will be addressed as well as an in-depth look at anti-virus protection programs. Students will also learn technician secrets that will aid in repairing and diagnosing common computer problems, giving students the confidence to be their own technician, identifying possible issues and resolving them. Class sessions are: 9/6, 9/8, 9/13, 9/15, 9/20, 9/22, 9/27, 10/4, 10/6, 10/11.
