Accommodations
A student with
a disability who wishes to
receive an accommodation for a
Continuing Education and
Professional Studies course,
workshop, program or other
Continuing Education activity
should apply for services with:
Magdalena Ramirez, Program
Coordinator, Continuing
Education and Professional
Studies
Department 500 Grand Concourse,
Room B208, Bronx New York 10451
Ms. Ramirez may be reached at
718-518-6719 or maramirez@hostos.cuny.edu.
Timely application and provision
of disability documentation by
the student is required in order
for accommodation eligibility to
be determined and provided.
Continuing Education will
consult with the College's
office of Services for Students
with Disabilities (SSWD) in
making its determination. An
accommodation plan will be
developed for eligible students.
If a student is receiving
services from either of New York
State's vocational
rehabilitation agencies, VESID
or CBVH, he or she is encouraged
to determine if vocational and
educational support may be
available while enrolled in a
Continuing Education and
Professional Studies offering.
If a student has a disability
but is not sponsored by either
of these agencies, she or he can
contact: Abigail Nelson, CUNY
LEADS Counselor for Continuing
Education at 212-652-2053 or Abigail.nelson@mail.cuny.edu about the process for applying
for vocational rehabilitation
services.
If a student with a disability
has a complaint regarding
Continuing Education and
Professional Studies compliance
with the Americans with
Disabilities Act, Section 504,
other federal or state laws
prohibiting discrimination on
the basis of disability, she or
he should be first brought to
the attention of the CE Director
or her designee. If the
complaint cannot be resolved
with the assistance of the
office, the student should then
direct it to the Compliance
Coordinator for 504 and ADA,
Natalie Brown, Esq. Her office
is located in A318. She may be
reached by telephone at
718-518-4284 or by email at nbrown@hostos.cuny.edu. Students
always have the right to seek
external assistance in resolving
a complaint. Information about
these resources is available at
both offices.
