Alethea Pace is a Bronx-based dancer and choreographer. Integrating choreography, text, video and set design, her performance work explores ambiguity, uncertainty and the in-between — especially within the context of history, identity and geography. For this lecture/demonstration Alethea will preview excerpts from two works: I swallowed your absence inspired by Octavia Butler's story "The Book of Martha" and Here goes the neighborhood, an offering to the Bronx.

CUNY DANCE INITIATIVE

The CUNY Dance Initiative receives major support from the Howard Gilman Foundation, Mertz Gilmore Foundation, and the Stavros Niarchos Foundation. Additional support is provided by the Jerome Robbins Foundation, the SHS Foundation, the Harkness Foundation for Dance, and Dance/NYC’s New York City Dance Rehearsal Space Subsidy Program, made possible by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
