This enchanting and informative introduction to the art of ballet features dancers from the world-renowned School of American Ballet.

How do ballerinas dance on their toes? How do dancers spin and turn without getting dizzy? How do male dancers jump so high? Those questions and more will be answered during the demonstration led by SAB faculty member Katrina Killian, and favorite moments from ballets such as The Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, and Swan Lake will be performed to live music.

The Beauty of Ballet is recommended for ages 4 through adult. The running time is approximately one hour.

This event is free. Seating is first come, first served. Pick up tickets beginning at 1 PM at the Box Office on the day of show.

The School of American Ballet is widely regarded as America’s leading ballet school. It is the official academy of New York City Ballet, trains almost all of New York City Ballet’s dancers (as well as many dancers who join dozens of other U.S. and international companies), and is world renowned for the excellence of its classical training as established by the School’s founders—the legendary teacher and choreographer George Balanchine and the visionary arts patron and writer Lincoln Kirstein.
