CUNYfirst Champions Purpose Statement
The purpose of the Hostos Champions is to provide a peer presence on campus to help students get ready to use CUNYfirst. They will help students understand why we’re implementing new student systems. They’ll be able to explain key differences between the old systems and the new system, and be able to articulate some of the key benefits of the new system for students. They will help students know when the new system is coming, and how to get training. After go live, they will provide some level of hands on support on campus.
Some of the key activities of the student team members will be speaking at public events, such as CUNYfirst campus events, demonstrating the new system, and spreading the news about CUNYfirst informally, whether in class with their peers or in other settings, to generate word-of-mouth buzz. The student teams will work together to identify opportunities to spread the word, and coordinate their efforts. They will also be “eyes and ears” for the CUNYfirst project team and will provide meaningful feedback to ensure our efforts are on track.
