The following are the procedures that are followed when it is determined that classes and/or other operations are to be cancelled based on severe weather or other emergency conditions.
If and when the decision to close the school is made, the following will occur:
- A Public Safety CUNY Alert will be sent via the CUNY Alert system with periodic updates.
- A continuous bulletin alert will be posted on the College website with periodic updates.
- E-mail to the Hostos Distribution List and Student Distribution List will go out with periodic updates.
- In addition, the following radio stations will Broadcast CUNY Messages related to the school closing.

The Public Safety Office will have the latest information regarding the College’s closing and will be available to receive inquires at 718-518-6888 or 718-518-6889.
School Closing announcements does not affect employees who have been designated as "Essential Staff" during periods of Inclement Weather and / or other emergencies that may lead to the closing of the college unless otherwise directed by their immediate supervisor.
