Spam/Phishing Alerts
Bogus/Phishing Email alert
The below security alert comes from the CUNY Central Office regarding a bogus email message that has been identified as a phishing attempt. The subject of such bogus message is: “To All Employee's - Important Address UPDATE” What follows is a sample of what this bogus message looks like:
To All Employee’s: The end of the year is approaching and we want to ensure every employee receives their W-1 to the correct address. Verify that the address is correct - <link removed> If changes need to be made, contact HR at <link removed> Administrator, <link removed>
Below is CUNY Central Office’s advice regarding such message:
Bottom Line: if you receive an email asking you to confirm your post office mailing address that appears to be coming from your Human Resources department just DELETE IT. It is fake (phishing attempt to get your personal data). Reports are coming in from various Central Office locations. I am advising the Campuses to be aware of this as a precaution.
Spam/Hoax/Virus advisory
If you receive a message like the following, do not click any links in the message:

The subject line of this message, "Your Apple ID password has been reset", is like the one that Apple sends out when you really change your Apple ID password. But, if this message arrives when you haven't really changed your Apple ID password, you’re advised to delete it immediately. Please avoid being scammed.
