Student Technology Fee Plan

For fiscal 2009/2010, Hostos Community College plans to utilize the Student Tech Fee to continue the efforts of the previous years and expand upon successful projects to increase student access to current and future technology and enhance faculty development.

This year, the Tech Fee advisory committee has agreed to maintain and/or expand existing resources for current long-term projects. These items include expanding student printing services; increasing the library's electronic resources; improving services for students with disabilities through laptop loans and specialized software; upgrading PCs in the computer labs; provisioning of remote access solutions for students; maintaining and adding additional SMART classrooms; facilitating podcasting; the replacement of Allied Health's Palm units with new iPod Touches; introduction of new software to the Mathematics curriculum; and supporting the computer labs, student technology workshops, and faculty development. Tech support levels will be increased to assist students and faculty, and to maintain hardware and infrastructure.
