Join the Award-winning ¡Escriba! /Write! Team!
The Hostos students' Literary & Art Journal wants YOUR writing and artwork, OR join the production team!
* ¡Escriba! /Write! won FIRST PRIZE for Best Small College Student Literary Magazine (Eastern Region) for 2006 in the annual contest sponsored by the Community College Humanities Association.
The 5th issue will be published this Spring and we encourage all Hostos students to submit Give us your work by April 25, 2007.
Submission guidelines:
Writers! Send (or bring) your work to Prof. Miriam Laskin (Library, Room A 213H) in MS Word or RTF format as an e-mail attachment or on disk. This is a multilingual journal, and written works may be in English, Spanish, French, Italian or any language you prefer.
Contact Prof. Laskin at: mlaskin@hostos.cuny.edu or call her at (718) 518-4207 to submit your writing or be a part of the production team. Please include your full name and a phone number and e-mail address (if you have one). Prof. Laskin will acknowledge receipt of your work and will contact you if she has any questions.
Anything up to 5,000 words is acceptable-- NO LIMIT on NUMBER OF SUBMISSIONS PER STUDENT
Artists! Contact Prof. Tang (Library, Room A 207G) to set up an appointment to present and photograph or scan the art you would like to submit. Call Prof. Tang at (718) 518-4298 or email her at jtang@hostos.cuny.edu to make an appointment. Provide your contact information including your name and email address or phone number so she can reach you.
Teachers: Please encourage your students to write essays or other pieces with publication in mind. We would love to include academic essays as well as imaginative work.
