Women's Studies Database

Most comprehensive Women's Studies site. Contains collections of conference announcements, calls for papers, course syllabi, and employment opportunities, as well as a picture gallery, and a significant number of government documents, and much more.

 

Women of Color Web sites

A list of noteworthy sites that focus on women of color in the United States and around the world compiled by Joan Korenman at the University of Maryland including links to online archival primary source documents from university archives and a wide collection of international links.

 

African American Writers of the 19th Century

This digital collection of 52 published works of African American women writers from the New York Public Library’s Schomburg Center is a unique and fascinating site. The site is very accessible and includes a database searchable by key word.

 

Women's Studies Online Resources

This frequently updated selection of annotated links to resources and information about women's studies/women's issues is a excellent starting point for research on women. Includes subject access to a wide variety of resources. Site produced and maintained by Joan Korenman, University of Maryland.

 

American Women’s History: A Research Guide

American Women's History provides citations to print, Internet reference sources and primary source collections. The guide provides information about the tools researchers can use to find additional books, articles, dissertations, and primary sources. Includes access to over 300 links to Digital Collections of Primary sources appropriate for use by undergraduates.

This site is part of a Voice of the Shuttle collection of Web sites in the Humanities hosted by the University of California, Santa Barbara. It includes annotated links arranged by subjects that include Women's Studies & Feminist Theory; Gay, Lesbian, & Queer Studies; Men's Movements; Cybergender & Technology; and General Resources.

 

Women's History

Maintained by the International Institute of Social History in the Netherlands, “The main purposes of this virtual library are to list women's history institutions and organizations, locate archival and library collections, and provide links to Internet resources on women's history. In addition, also included are a list of women's studies journals and a few comprehensive link collections useful as a starting point for searching the Internet for women's studies in general.” Provides access to journals, conferences, Internet resources by topic, geograohy, and time period.

 

Global Reproductive Health Forum 

Hosted by the Harvard School of Public Health, this is an international resource crated to encourage "the proliferation of critical, democratic discussions about reproductive health, rights and gender." Includes Geographical access by global region (South Asia, Africa, Latin America) in addition to specialized areas for teens. Reproductive health issues such as AIDS, STDs, contraception, abortion, and family planning are presented from a global perspective.  

 

National Women's Health Information Center (NWHIC)

Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, this site is a gateway to women’s health information. Includes inks to selected publications, NWHIC's Women's Health Information Resources database, health resources for women of color, and Web sites to government agencies and non-profit organizations that produce reliable health information for the public.

 

Celebrating Women's History Month

Gale Research has assembled a collection of activities and information to complement classroom topics in this free site in honor of Women’s History Month.  Developed for both teachers and students, the site provides resources that allow users to read biographies of significant women throughout time; take a quiz based on women and their achievements; follow a timeline of events of significant dates in women's history; enjoy activities taken directly from the Women's History Month Resource Book and excerpts from Women's Rights on Trial.

 

Documents from the Women's Liberation Movement

From the on-line Archival Collection, Special Collections Library at Duke University, the materials in this on-line archival collection document various aspects of the Women's Liberation Movement in the United States, and focus specifically on the radical origins of this movement during the late 1960s and early 1970s. Items range from radical theoretical writings to humorous plays to the minutes of an actual grassroots group. Features transcribed texts and scanned images of over 40 articles, pamphlets, flyers, and booklets published from 1969 to 1974 that focus specifically on the early radical origins of this U.S. movement.
