Workshop Descriptions and Sign-ups

The Hostos Library Information Literacy program offers six "open workshops," each covering a different skill set and everyone – students, faculty, staff and administration – is welcome to take our workshops. Our workshops help attendees learn how to find, evaluate, and use information from the library's digital and print collections and are given repeatedly throughout the Fall and Spring semesters. Teachers can assign - and students can take - as many of these workshops as they wish. Please read our Workshop Descriptions.

All of the workshops are held in the Library Classroom, Room 214, just at the bottom of the stairs to the left, on the second floor of the Library.

WE HAVE A NEW WORKSHOP SIGN-UP PROCEDURE!

Instructions: Check the WORKSHOP CALENDAR (http://www.hostos.cuny.edu/oaa/calendar) to see a schedule of available Workshops. This new Workshop Calendar allows you to see and sign up for our library information literacy workshops, OIT workshops (i.e., Blackboard, Powerpoint, etc.) and Counseling department workshops (i.e., Resumé writing, majors and careers, etc.). You will see the current month’s workshops when you go to the calendar, but you can click at the bottom on the arrow that takes you to the next month, to see if there are workshops you want to sign up for in the next month.

You will need your Hostos Email Username and Password to sign up for workshops. Click here to find your Hostos Email Username and Password. If your Password has expired or you need other help with your Email Username & Password, just go to the Reference desk in the Library or the Help Desk in the Open Computer Lab, C 596.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If your teacher has made arrangements to bring your whole class to a course-related workshop, your teacher will give you a “PASSKEY” to type in after your Email Username and Password for that workshop. Only students with the PASSKEY to these special workshops will be able to register for it.
