What is an OPAC?


OPAC stands for . . .

Online: The word "online" refers to sharing information over a computer network.

Public Access: The phrase "public access" means open to all users.

Catalog: A "catalog" in the library world is a collection of descriptions of the materials which the library offers to its users.

Catalog materials are referred to as "items" and may include books, periodical subscriptions, audiovisual programs, and items from special collections such as government documents, maps, and photographs.
