Dedicated to José Ferrer Canales, Carmen Durán, Fina García Marruz, José Olivio Jiménez, Julio César López, Cintio Vitier for their valuable contributions to the study of Hostos and Martí,and in memory of Juan Bosch, for his eminent scholarship on Hostos.

The encuentro Hostos y Martí in New York City will be hosted by Hostos Community College-CUNY, as part of the Hostos & Martí 2003: A Commemoration. The encuentro will take place November 19-22, at the Hostos Community College campus, located at 149th and Grand Concourse, in the Bronx, NY. Distinguished scholars in the fields of Latin American literary criticism, education, politics and history will be participating. Attendance to the activities is open to the public free of charge. Food and lodging are not included. The cafeteria at the college will be serving food during the encuentro. There are also several restaurants, in the immediate vicinity. The College is 15 minutes by subway from midtown Manhattan: trains # 4 or # 6 to the 149th and Grand Concourse Station.
