December 20, 2012 (Bronx, NY) — The Caimans men’s basketball team recently went on a 10-game winning streak and earned an honorable mention in the NJCAA Division III rankings of the Top 10 teams in the nation.
After enjoying a 78-42 win over Queensborough CC on December 11, the Hostos squad raised its record to 11-1 overall and 4-0 in CUNYAC play.
The honorable mention in the Top 10 came after the Caimans beat two nationally ranked teams in one week, Bronx CC on December 1 and Nassau CC on December 9. The last time the men’s team was ranked was after they captured the NJCAA Division III men’s basketball championship in 2005 with a 73-71 win over Joliet Junior College.
In the latest victory, Chris Van Buren led the Caimans with 17 points, Chad Coachman had 16 points and Maverick Hodge and Jeremiah Brown each added 9 points to help keep the winning streak alive.
