RADIOLOGICAL TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT
HOLDS PINNING CEREMONY FOR CLASS OF 2013

Students during the Hostos Radiological Technology ceremony on June 17

Tuesday, June 25, 2013 (Bronx, NY) - The Radiological Technology Department celebrated its Class of 2013 with a special pinning ceremony on June 17.

The event was organized by Assistant Professor of the Radiologic Technology Department Jarek Stelmark. Professor Stelmark and Dr. Charles I. Drago, the Director of the Radiological Technology Department, took turns with other faculty congratulating the graduates, while urging to make the most of what they learned at Hostos.

The Multipurpose Room was filled with friends and family of the 32 graduates who received their certificates, making 2013 the 16th straight year the program has boasted a 100 percent pass rate. “I do not know of many other college’s in the state that can say they have the rate of success Hostos has. It is very rare,” Dr. Drago said.

The Class of 2013 is also the largest to date at Hostos. The graduates are also entering a fast-growing field where they can become MRA techs, CT techs, or even educators themselves.

Dr. Drago also praised the work of graduates Leonardo Garcia, who won a New York State Radiological Technology essay this year, and Allen A. Niles, who won another contest sponsored by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT). The Class of 2013 also included five Medgar Evers scholarship winners.
