Friday, October 28, 2011 (Bronx, NY) – The Continuing Education Association of New York (CEANY) announced today that Hostos Community College Continuing Education Executive Director, Peter Mertens, was awarded the 2011 Outstanding Continuing Educator Award and Fern Chan the James C. Hall Jr. Exemplary Program Award in Advertisement. The announcement came from Aldrin Rafael Bonilla, the Chair of the South Region of CEANY and the Executive Director/Site Administratorof CUNY in Heights.
The James C. Hall Jr. Exemplary Program Award in Advertisement was presented to Chan for the advertising campaign titled "Make the Right Move!/ Hostos College for Kids Summer Academy." The promotion contained all of the design features, demographic research, compelling messaging, call to action and return on investment results worthy of statewide recognition.
“It is a wonderful acknowledgment that the CEANY has bestowed on the Continuing Education and Professional Studies Department. We have a highly competitive program with leading educators and for this Hostos should feel proud. We want more people to come to us and we are expanding and growing more than ever thanks to Peter Mertens and Fern Chan’s vision,” indicated Vice President of Continuing Education and Workforce Development, Carlos Molina.
“I can’t think of a more deserving candidate for this award than Peter Mertens. His dedication and professionalism continue to reward us with pride and we are lucky to have him. The Advertisement Award credit goes to Fern Chan’s vision and I am extremely happy to see her outstanding work being honored. We have a strong team and I look forward to more amazing work by their side,” remarked Assistant Dean of Continuing Education & Workforce Development, Lorraine Altman.
The 2011 Annual Conference titled, Building Partnerships for Tomorrow’s Success will take place in from November 9th through 11th at Turning Stone Resort and Casino near Syracuse, New York.
