New York League of Puerto Rican Women, Inc. Honors Two Hostos Community College Administrators and Awards Scholarships to Two Hostos Students

Monday, August 22, 2011 (Bronx, NY)-  At The New York League of Puerto Rican Women’s annual College Awards Gala Dinner on Thursday, August 18th, Dr. Carmen Coballes-Vega, Hostos Community College Provost, received a Lifetime Achievement Award in Education, and Ana García Reyes, the college’s Assistant Dean of Community Relations, was also given special recognition.

In addition, the League’s President Edith Padilla and its Board of Directors gave Hostos students Enjoli Alamo and Nadia García College Awards of the Year for academic excellence and service to the community. Both also received $1,000 scholarships.

Dr. Félix V. Matos Rodríguez, President of Hostos, said that these awards are richly deserved: “Not only has The New York League of Puerto Rican Women selected worthy individuals to honor, but also a diverse group of women who help to keep Hostos vibrant, young and relevant.”

The College Awards Gala Dinner was held at Marina del Rey in the Bronx.
