Thursday, June 16, 2011 (Bronx, NY) - For the last two decades, Hostos Community College in collaboration with the City University of New York have marched at the Puerto Rican Day Parade representing the college’s multi-cultural and multi-lingual student body. This year was no exception and our student delegation, by a request from the Governor’s Office, marched with Governor Cuomo.

The Hostos Community College delegation had of over 30 students, faculty and friends of the College at the Puerto Rican Day Parade. The students enjoyed interacting with elected officials, executives, the Governor and the people. This year, as in previous years, our students marched with pride in solidarity with the Puerto Rican Community and our presence and participation was noticed.
Every year Hostos Community College receives multiple requests asking the College to participate in various parades and celebrate the rich culture, history, traditions and legacy of Latinos and blacks in the US. Hostos students participate in the Puerto Rican, Dominican, and Afro-American Parades among others.

Eugenio María de Hostos Community College, part of The City University of New York system, was founded in 1968. Located in the South Bronx, the college currently serves nearly 7,000 students.
