1. What is College Now?

College Now is a collaborative program of the City University of New York (CUNY) and the New York City Department of Education. College Now at Hostos Community College motivates and prepares South Bronx high school students for the reality of higher education and the college experience by offering them an opportunity to take college-level courses and earn college credits while still in high school.

2. Who teaches College Now courses?

College Now courses and workshops are taught by college faculty. Pairs of high school and college faculty may team teach some courses. Unless otherwise indicated, College Now courses are exclusively for high school students.

3. How many courses can I take?

Students can only take one course each semester.

4. Will the credits I earn transfer to other schools?

In most cases, College Now credits transfer directly within the CUNY system. Credits can also usually be transferred to other colleges - even those outside the CUNY system. You should check with the colleges you are applying to regarding their credit transfer policies.

5. How do I get an official transcript?

You can get an official transcript at the Office of the Registrar (120 East 149th Street Room D-207) for a $7.00 fee. Transcripts to be sent to another college of The City University of New York are forwarded free of charge. For more information, contact the College Now office (718-518-6750) or the Registrar's Office (718- 518-6771).

6. What should I do if I am absent?

Absences should be avoided. If you are going to be absent from class, you should call the College Now office (718-518-6750) and contact a classmate to get any work you may have missed.

7. How do I get an official Hostos Community College ID?

After registering for a class, you will receive notification (in class) of when you can pick up your ID card from the basement of the B building (BC-42A).
