Curricular Initiatives

Title V Project

A competitive faculty development seminar series is offered through the Hostos Center for Teaching and Learning. The series, now in its third year, was designed to generate faculty-driven curricular innovations to improve student learning outcomes. To apply, each faculty member is required to submit a brief narrative describing the innovation concept, the anticipated impact of implementing the concept, evidence in educational literature that the concept is sound, and an implementation plan overview. Participants work in pairs.

Selected faculty participate in a retreat that supports the innovation plans, builds community, and exposes participants to nationally renowned experts. They resubmit their idea in a more developed format. Seven innovation awards are made yearly and the winning faculty are given release time to develop and implement their innovation.
