The Academic Computing Center (ACC)

Mission:

The Academic Computing Center (ACC) at Hostos Community College is committed to providing students, faculty and instructional staff members with support services in computer technology. The mission of the ACC is to provide academic departments with the computer support needed by faculty to conduct their classes, to provide students with an environment where they can use the computing facilities to complete their academic work, to provide the college community with a place to hold conferences, conduct workshops, and have multimedia presentations. The ACC is located in The East Academic Complex, Building C on the 5th Floor and consists of the following:

  • Open Lab
  • Student Multimedia Lab
  • Six Classroom Labs

The ACC is a safe and clean environment where the college community can use the latest technology such as Dell Optiplex GX 520, Intel Pentium 4, 2.8 GHZ, 1 GB of Ram, 80 GB hard drive, Flat screen and optical mouse. To access the computer, students, faculty, and staff must have a valid Hostos College ID. The ethical and legal use of any computing and networking resource is the responsibility of each resource user.

Objectives:
  • To provide Academic Departments with the computer support needed by faculty to conduct their classes.
  • To provide students with an environment where they can use the computing facilities to complete their academic work.
  • To provide the college community with a place to hold conferences, conduct workshops, and have multimedia presentations.
  • To provide performance data by means of Student Survey each semester.
