Services

The ACC manages the open computer lab and classroom-teaching labs. The ACC has a well-trained staff member who maintains the 350 computers and 10 printers.

At the beginning of every semester, a standard operating system configuration and software is installed on all computers. Because all computers are in used 78 hours per week, it is very difficult to do maintenance during the semester; therefore it is not possible to install software once the semester has started.

The open computer lab cannot be reserved for teaching classes. It is available to students for general use during all open hours. Generally, classroom-teaching labs managed by ACC are primarily designed to be used by certain classes such as OT (typing), CIP (computer), Math 1690, etc.

• Classroom-teaching Labs

  The Center has 4 classroom-teaching labs: (Room C-512, C-592, C-594, and C-596). Each room contains up to 30 computers for students, one printer and one computer for the Professor. All labs have permanent projectors connected to the instructor's computer. Two of the classrooms are SmartRooms (smarboard, projector, camera and microphone) and 50 laptops are available to use in all of them. There are 4 “Carritos” (cart containing Projector and Laptop) provided by the Instructional Technology Office and managed by the ACC. • Open Lab (Room C-595 & C-598)

  The Open Labs has 110 computers and 4 printers. Through the combined efforts of the ACC, the Instructional Technology Office, and the Student Government Organization, the ACC provides the following services within the lab:

  • Tech Tutors

    A group of 10 Tech Tutors provide services to students in the Center during operational hours. At any given time, there is at least 1 tutor present.

  • Help Desk

    Two well-trained full-time staff members provide service to all students in the areas related to Blackboard and e-mail accounts. The Help Desk, located within the Open Labs (Room C-595 & C-598) is open Monday thru Friday from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm, and Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.
