The world of music has been both influenced and enriched by American music. All the music of the Americas, (Central, North and South); the Caribbean, (Cuba, Haiti, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic); and the American South (the Carolinas, Georgia, Mississippi, etc.)—has contributed to music, unlike any other music ever created. The music from these various places is indigenously different but carry many similarities. The reason for the similarities can be traced back to the music found in Western African, where it all started. Jazz, blues, salsa, soul, rhythm and blues, rap will be explored using musical performance, and through lecture.
