Pre-reading statement of opinion: Sometimes a young child has to be responsible for the care of a parent. Do you agree that this could be a valuable experience? Why or why not?
Post-reading guided summary: Explain how George Caywood describes the impact of a depression on his life. Give the Gina Caywood’s assessment of her father’s life and why he is the “happiest person” (144) she knows. Refer to her hope that the Storycorps interview will give him the “honor” (145) that she thinks he deserves.
