Competitive abstracts will focus on one of the following topics:
- The State of Dominican Studies: Language, Literature, Cultural Studies, and Social Sciences,
- Pioneering Dominican Studies in the United States,
- Emerging Voices in Dominican Studies,
- Status of Dominican Studies in Public Schools,
- Dominican Study Abroad Programs: A Status Report,
- Engendering Dominican Studies,
- Breaking Down Walls: Research on Gay, Lesbian and Transgender Dominican Studies,
- The Fatherland/La Madre Patria in the Imagination of the Diaspora,
- Diaspora Studies: An Overview, and
- Considering Dominican Literature: Dentro y Fuera.
- Selected abstracts will be chosen to submit a full length paper.
