Competitive abstracts will focus on one of the following topics:

  1. The State of Dominican Studies: Language, Literature, Cultural Studies, and Social Sciences,
  2. Pioneering Dominican Studies in the United States,
  3. Emerging Voices in Dominican Studies,
  4. Status of Dominican Studies in Public Schools,
  5. Dominican Study Abroad Programs: A Status Report,
  6. Engendering Dominican Studies,
  7. Breaking Down Walls: Research on Gay, Lesbian and Transgender Dominican Studies,
  8. The Fatherland/La Madre Patria in the Imagination of the Diaspora,
  9. Diaspora Studies: An Overview, and
  10. Considering Dominican Literature: Dentro y Fuera.
  • Selected abstracts will be chosen to submit a full length paper.
  • Submit title and abstract electronically to sbrennan@hostos.cuny.edu.

This conference is being hosted by Eugenio María de Hostos Community College, City University of New York (CUNY), and is sponsored by the Asociación de Estudios Dominicanos/Dominican Studies Association, the CUNY Dominican Studies Institute, Comisionado Dominicano de Cultural en los Estados Unidos at City College , the Division of Academic Affairs at Hostos Community College, Dominican American Round Table, the Hostos Dominican Republic Study Abroad Program, the Latino/Latin American Studies Program at Syracuse University, and the Serrano Scholars Program at Hostos Community College.
