Physical Education/Athletics Unit
The philosophy of the Physical Education/Athletics Unit is to provide students with educational experiences to help them meet the needs of individual physical fitness and leisure living. The unit attempts to express its philosophy in the following ways:
Through a service program, the Unit seeks to insure that each student acquires a comprehensive understanding of physical fitness, dynamic health, and leisure living; the ability to identify personal fitness and leisure living needs on a continuing basis; the experience of counseling techniques which explore available options toward meeting individual fitness and leisure living needs; and basic and advanced skills in healthful physical activities of the student's own selection.
- The Unit offers a program of intramural, recreational, and special activities designed to meet student skills and interests.
- The Unit offers varsity, intercollegiate athletic programs to meet student needs and interests when feasible.
Students who are interested in planning a concentration in physical education are advised to consult with the Physical Education/Athletics Unit Coordinator.
