Graduation Requirements
- GPA: Students must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 to be eligible for graduation. Nursing requires a GPA of 2.5 to be eligible for graduation
- SKILLS TEST: Effective
May 1997, CUNY requires that all students pass
the writing and reading basic skills test as a
graduation requirement from all community colleges.
In addition, students who wish to transfer to senior
colleges must also pass the mathematics skills
test prior to transferring (1985 policy). See Assessment
for more details)
- CPE:
On November 22, 2010, the CUNY Board of Trustees voted to eliminate the CPE as a degree requirement for all previous, current, and future CUNY students.
- SSD 1000: Effective
fall 2003, all first-time freshman liberal arts
majors must take SSD 1000: Freshmen Orientation
course.
- Writing Intensive (WI): Effective
Fall 2003, all entering students are required to
take two (2) Writing Intensive courses prior to
graduation. These specially designated sections
are designed to help students improve their writing
skills along with their understanding of course
material. Through both formal and informal writing
assignments, students will strengthen their writing
proficiencies as they become familiar with writing
unique to particular disciplines. It is expected
that, through these intensive, meaningful opportunities
for writing, students will be able to become better
writers and communicators, skills highly valued
both in college and in the job market.
