Professional Development Institute (PDI)

The Professional Development Institute sponsors a wide variety of single-occurrence and serial activities that are geared to accomplish the following:

Skills and Knowledge Development

In accordance with the Institute’s primary directive, the majority of activities sponsored by the Institute are designed to foster the professional growth of faculty and academic program administrators. The Institute sponsors both on- and off-site activities.

Building Community

Creation and maintenance of relationships between colleagues and coworkers is key to a healthy college campus. As such, the Professional Development Institute sponsors activities that create connections between faculty, staff, and students of the college, and that create a foundation for continued community building in years to come.

Interacting with the Greater Academic Community

The Institute selectively covers the cost of faculty travel and attendance at conferences around the country, facilitating the flow of new and innovative ideas into the college. The exchange of ideas and knowledge between Hostos faculty and the greater academe feeds the college’s vitality as an institution of higher learning, and also alerts the greater academic community to Hostos’ renewal.
