Avon II Foundation
In 1995, Hostos Community College requested
from the Avon Foundation Board of Directors funds to develop an emergency student loan
program that would assist its male population as well as its female population. The Board
of Directors approved an award in the amount of $10,000.00 to Hostos Community College.
These funds were donated with the condition that our institution administers them as part
of an emergency student loan program. These conditions include and are not limited to the
following situation:
Tuition
Deferrals
Childcare
Tuition
Debts
Housing
Books
Federal
Student Loan Rehabilitation
Due to the administrative capability of the
Office of Financial Aid and the Business Office, over 150 students have benefited from
this emergency fund. The Office of Financial Aid has also secured over 65% of its original
disbursements from loan repayments. As a result of these efforts, it is now a revolving
account that continues to provide vital support to our college community.
NOTE:
There is NO interest on the Avon II Loan.
