Position Title: Program Manager/Funcionario de Préstamo
                        Location: Bronx, New York City



Background: Project Enterprise (PE) is a nonprofit organization that provides business loans, technical assistance and peer support to low-income New Yorkers who do not have access to conventional business credit. PE's innovative peer lending program assists individuals to create jobs for themselves and their neighbors, improving their own standard of living as well as that of their families and their communities. PE currently serves more than 150 active members and has disbursed loans totaling more than $280,000. PE is seeking a motivated, energetic individual to expand and establish the organization in the Bronx and serve clients in both Spanish and English. PE currently has 10 staff members and 3 AmeriCorps*VISTAs. (See www.projectenterprise.org  for further information)

Relationships: The Program Manager reports directly to the Program Officer/Branch Manager. 

Primary Responsibilities: All duties would be conducted in both Spanish and English

  1. Serve as a Program Manager to recruit, train, and provide ongoing technical assistance to low-income individuals in the Bronx

  2. Promote and market PE's microloan program to potential borrowers, referral sources and local contacts to expand the number of clients served and the loan volume

  3. Create effective long-term community partnerships for client referrals, client technical assistance, and support within the community

  4. Improve and/or develop program policies and materials, including translation of materials 

  5. Hold weekly group formation training sessions

  6. Facilitate biweekly meetings and provide ongoing technical assistance and business training

  7. Find guest speakers, trainers, and mentors for clients

  8. Manage and maintain the quality of a portfolio of loans

  9. Conduct site visits to borrowers' businesses

  10. Update loan and impact tracking databases with client information.

  11. Work with other staff to maintain the office space

  12. Assist, when necessary, in training new Program Managers

  13. Assist in the hiring, training, and supervising of staff, AmeriCorps*VISTAs, and/or volunteers

 

Qualifications:

  1. Full fluency in Spanish and English

  2. Minimum two year commitment to Project Enterprise, preferably longer

  3. Commitment to Project Enterprise's mission of providing credit and business support services to low-income individuals.

  4. High level of motivation, initiative, and resourcefulness. Capable of managing numerous client accounts and working with a rapidly growing loan portfolio while actively soliciting new clients.

  5. Excellent teaching, communication, interpersonal, time management and organizational skills. 

  6. Strong math, written and computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Internet. Basic knowledge of business, finance.

  7. Experience mediating between individuals and/or groups.

  8. Previous experience teaching and working with low-income individuals preferred.

  9. Previous business training or experience is helpful, particularly with banking, finance, insurance, community development, or mortgage lending products.

  10. Minimum of a two-year degree required; preferably a Bachelors or Masters degree.

  11. Familiarity with the Bronx a plus

 

Salary: 
Salary ranges from $28,000-$34,000 depending on experience. Health benefits, 403(b) and monthly Metrocard.
