POSITION:                               Teachers/Staff Developers (4-5) Bilingual/ESL
                                                   Teacher Leadership Institute
LOCATION OF ACTIVITY:   District Ten School Assignment

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: 

1. Satisfactory completion of Bilingual/ESL Teacher Leadership Academy during Summer (2002). 
2. Certified Bilingual and ESL Teachers (K-8) with MA in Education 
3. Bilingual Spanish/English 
4. Minimum 3yrs teaching experience as a regularly appointed teacher in NYC/NYS 
5. Satisfactory rating for previous school year. 
6. Excellent record of attendance and punctuality. 



SELECTION CRITERIA:

1. Exceptional oral and written communication in both Spanish and English. 
2. Excellent interpersonal skills with staff, parents, students and community members.
3. Excellent organizational skills. 
4. Ability to participate in a community of learners environment. 
5. Knowledge and experience of staff development practices. 
6. Demonstrated knowledge of current bilingual and ESL research, curriculum, materials, methods, theories, technology, performance standards and assessments. 
7. Knowledge and experience with staff development practice. 
8. Demonstrated skill in implementing new projects, which would involve communication, team building and group dynamics (i.e. leadership team, curriculum mapping, literacy support team). 


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
1. Establish and maintain instructional lab in their school. 
2. Provide technical assistance and support to teachers. 
3. Maintains records and coordinates professional development services. 
3. Collaborates with district, school staff, institutes of higher education, SED, community. 
4. Provides modeling of innovative research /standards based methodologies. 
6. Provides opportunities for intervisitations, networking, and consultation with staff to meet needs of students. 


SALARY/WORK SCHEDULE: As Per Collective Bargaining Agreement
