POSITION: Director of
Athletics & Recreation (Sub-Higher Education Assistant)

This is a temporary position. Appointment is not to
exceed one (1) year
POSITION DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES
The Director of Athletics and Recreation will report to the Office of the
Dean of Students. The Director will be responsible for development and
management the college's inter-collegiate, intramural, recreational and club
sports activities and act as chief administrator of the college's athletics
program and Athletic Center.

Engage in creative resource development (grants, camps, renting of
facilities, foundation awards, revenue generation, etc.) to help ensure the
viability of the athletics program.

Manage the athletics program/facilities budget; monitor expenditures;
streamline standard operating procedures for the purchase, inventory and
maintenance of equipment.

In collaboration with Academic Affairs Division, provide time and facilities
for academic classes assigned to the various areas of the athletic center
--- servicing students in regular college programs, Lincoln Academy,
Children's Center and Continuing Education classes. Work with the Assistant
Dean of Administration in all aspects related to the maintenance of the
Athletic Center, including the Main Gymnasium, Aerobic and Strength Training
Centers, Dance Studio, Indoor Swimming Pool, Locker Rooms, First Aid
Training Center and Laundry Room. Develop and implement policies and
procedures for the use, care and maintenance of all Athletic Center
equipment (treadmills, stationary bikes, Stairmasters, rowing machines, ski
simulators, weight machines, free weights benches, etc.)
• Supervise all full and part time staff assigned to the Athletic Center,
including college laboratory technicians (in collaboration with Health &
Human Services faculty), college assistants, and lifeguards.

Establish and implement policies governing the use of the Athletic Center by
external groups and community residents

Establish and implement guidelines dealing with the health and safety issues
to include guidelines set forth by state and city guidelines, related to the
use of the Athletic Center.

Provide support and advice regarding the effective use of the Athletic
Center for sports, recreation, as well as the health and wellness of college
faculty and staff.

Coordinate and provide academic support interventions to students that
participate in the athletics and recreation program to include tracking of
academic progress and serving as liaison with instructors.

Responsible for ensuring compliance with NJCAA rules, regulations and
compliance guidelines as well as establishing positive and collaborative
relationships with local, regional, state and national NJCAA officials.

Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree and 4 years of related
experience. Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Student
Development, academic or a similar relevant field is preferred. Successful
candidate will have experience in the administration of a complex
organization with a variety of programs and facilities, as well as
experience commensurate to leading an NJCAA Division athletic program. Must
have excellent organization, technical knowledge of NJCAA or NCAA compliance
guidelines, interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills. Able to
demonstrate past and on-going commitment to sustaining and advancing
institutional goals in the areas of student development.
SALARY: $38,801 - $61,563 Commensurate with education and work
experience
