Michele Quintero Williams
Liberal Arts and Science Major
Hostos Emerging Leaders Program/Student Orientation Services Team Member

Michele Quintero WilliamsMichele Quintero Williams was born in the Bronx, New York at Lincoln Hospital on March 7th, 1988 and has lived in this neighborhood for her entire life. Michele is in her last semester at Hostos Community College and will graduate in January of 2011. When Michele arrived at Hostos she chose to study Office Technology, but after a couple of semesters and some unique experiences here at the college, she decided to pursue her true passions; acting and singing, so therefore she changed her major to Liberal Arts and Sciences.

While in attendance at Hostos Community College, Michele has uncovered opportunities for herself to pursue her dreams, desires and goals. In addition to joining the Hostos Student Leadership Academy as a Student Orientation Services Team Member and a Hostos Emerging Leader, Michele has also been a member of the GAP Club, the Arts Club, the Ability Awareness Club and she has performed (acted) in two productions of the play “No Child” by Nilaja Sun as part of the Hostos Repertory Theatre Company and received an award for Excellence in Theatre for her performance. Michele has also performed the National Anthem at basketball, volleyball and soccer home games in the fall of 2009 and the spring of 2010. She is the winner of the Fall 2008 Black Student Union Talent Competition, and the winner of the Fall 2010 Homecoming Celebration Talent Competition. She was nominated and had the opportunity to go with five of her classmates to New Hampshire and participate in the American College Theatre Festival and compete for the Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship in spring 2010.

Michele and Vice President Joe BidenMichele has participated in many of the Academy’s community service projects. She has helped in registering incoming Students on the Hostos campus, done volunteer work at the Part of the Solution (P.O.T.S) Soup Kitchen, painted a mural at Harlem River Park, walked in A.I.D.S Walk New York, and served on the National Day of Service on 9-11-2010, where not only she had a chance to help to paint a dilapidated playground, but she was also recognized for her volunteer work by Vice President Joe Biden and his wife, Dr. Jill Biden.


Michele has attended the CUNY Emerging Leaders Michele and Nelson CastroConference, the Somos El Futuro Conference in Albany and the United States Hispanic Leadership Institute Conference-Northeast. She is also an active member of the City University of New York (CUNY) Coalition for Student With Disabilities.

Her personal goal will be to pursue a career in the performing arts because she loves being on the stage. Michele also has a desire to continue to do work in the community helping people. Michele hopes to attend the City College of New York in the spring.

Hostos Repertory Company Wins Two Awards at Kennedy Center’s American College Theater Festival

Michele Quintero Williams appeared in the Spring 2011 production of Metamorphoses by Mary Zimmerman at the Hostos Repertory Theatre as the character Myrrha.

Michele has also been given a committee position as a member of the CUNY Coalition for Students with Disabilities.

Michele Quintero Williams has been accepted to attend the City College of New York for Fall 2011.
