General Info: College Access and ID Policy
In an
effort to enhance the safety and security of the college community, all
students, faculty and staff are required to display their Hostos I.D.
card when entering the campus. All registered and current employees
must get their ID cards validated at the beginning of each semester. Validations stickers can be obtained at the Public Safety Office
located in the C building room C-030; Monday through Saturday between 10
am and 9 pm.
All
other persons requesting access to the college must display a valid
picture identification card prior to being signed in. Examples of a
valid photo I.D. card are (driver's license, NYS non-driver's identification card,
passport, military identification card, social services identification
card, city and / or state employment identification card; etc...)
An
attempt to announce visitors will be made by the Office of Public Safety
prior to access being granted.
The Department of Education & the enforcement of orders of protection
requires screening practices that reduce the opportunity of crime on
campus and protect those persons who have been victims of stalking and /
or domestic violence.
College visitors are prohibited from going to areas other than the area
they are authorized to visit. Visits or activity in other areas other
than the area signed in for requires clearance and must be made in
compliance with the college’s visitor and / or use of campus facility
procedures.
Only
registered CUNY students and active employees of the City University of
New York are authorized to visit the Hostos Community College library.
An
exception to this rule requires approval from the Chief Librarian and /
or an Officer of the College and must be forwarded in written form to
the Public Safety Office.
The
computer labs in the East Academic building are exclusively for the use
of registered students and active employees of Hostos Community College.
The Physical Education Complex can only be used by registered students
and / or active employees of Hostos Community College.
An
exception to this rule requires approval from the College Athletic
Director and / or an Officer of the College which must be forwarded in
written form to the Public Safety Office.
