Welcome to the Hostos Community College Department of Public Safety World Wide Web Page. The material contained herein is provided as a public safety service to the college community. We hope that you will take the time to view the many sites and links which are being made available for your safety and information.
The Campus Security and Public Safety Department strives to provide a safe and secure environment on the Hostos campus and within the community. Programs that include seminars on crime prevention and security procedures have been established, along with those conducted in conjunction with the New York City Police Department on subway safety, sexual assault, and confidence games. Nonetheless, each person must take the necessary measures for self-protection. Reducing personal vulnerability lessens the likelihood of becoming a crime victim.
Please make sure to familiarize yourself with the sections dedicated to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Security Act. The Campus Security Act contains information which is mandated by the federal government. It contains policies and procedures which are dedicated towards promoting a crime free campus.
The men and women of the Public Safety Service are held to the highest standards in achieving the level of professionalism the college community has come to expect and deserve.
Our officers are expected to be involved in problem solving, training, communicating and if need be, enforcement of New York State laws and the rules and regulations under which The City University of New York operates.
Chief Arnaldo Bernabe
